The Resurfacing
I’ve gone through a few jars of the Blue Tansy Invisible Pores Resurfacing Clarity Mask in the past few years, and have yet to be disappointed. This mask feels like coming home and a multi-sensory experience. Formulated with blue tansy oil, papaya and pineapple enzymes, willow bark, hyaluronic acid, aloe, neem, red algae, holy basil, and Arabian jasmine, you can only imagine the divinity that lies within this perfect union.
Here’s a detailed breakdown of the ingredients of this magical blend.
- Tanacetum Annuum Flower Oil: I won’t bore you with another TED talk on my love for Blue Tansy Oil, so feel free to review my previous post here.
- Papaya Enzymes: The Papain enzyme found in the papaya fruit of the Carica Papaya plant is known to be a natural exfoliant to effectively clear dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. With regular use, these enzymes can help fade dark spots, decongest pores, and promote a more even skin tone.
- Pineapple Enzymes: The Bromelain enzyme found in the pineapple fruit, known as Ananas Sativus, has natural exfoliant, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and moisturizing properties due to its high carbohydrate and nutrient content. This fruit extract is also rich in glycolic acid (AHA) and salicylic acid (BHA) for a thorough exfoliation.
- Willow Bark: Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract is a source of salicin to provide deep exfoliation and decongestion of the pores to fight acne and reduce the appearance of lines. Although not the same, salicin has similar properties to salicylic acid such as anti-inflammatory and anti-aging, and is known to be gentler on the skin.
- Sodium Hyaluronate: This is the salt form of hyaluronic acid. Since it has a lower molecular weight, it has the ability to provide hydration to the skin on a deeper level.
- Gluconolactone: It’s a big fancy word, but this polyhydroxy acid (PHA) is naturally derived and provides gentle exfoliation as compared to AHAs and BHAs. Since it has a higher molecular weight, it doesn’t penetrate as deeply and is a safer bet for use on irritated skin. Added perks include antioxidant, humectant, and antimicrobial properties.
- Sodium Phytate: Another big word, but this is simply an antioxidant to stabilize skincare formulas to protect them from going rancid.
- Melia Azadirachta: Also known as Chinaberry, this ayurvedic plant native to China and the Indian subcontinent has medicinal properties that provide antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory protection.
- Corallina Officinalis Extract: A plant-based exfoliant derived from seaweed. The red algae help slough dead skin cells to improve skin tone and increase cell turnover for a brighter complexion.
- Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract: A natural ingredient from the commonly known Ivy Gourd plant that has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
- Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract: Eggplant is rich in vitamins and minerals, is a good source of antioxidants, and also has anti-inflammatory properties.
- Aloe Barbadensis Flower Extract: A well-known skin moisturizing gel that comes from the aloe vera plant, used to soothe rashes, minor burns, various other skin irritations, and wounds with its antibacterial, antiviral, and antiseptic properties.
- Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract: Tulsi or Holy Basil, is an herb native to South Asia, and is used most popularly in skincare and tea, as well as for cooking. The leaves of the Tulsi plant provide antibacterial and antifungal properties to help with problematic and acne-prone skin. It also has anti-aging, skin brightening, and pore tightening effects.
- Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Flower/Leaf Extract: This is the Basil plant, you know, the kind you use to make that delicious pesto sauce. It’s more than just a garnish, as it provides skin clearing effects with its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
- Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract: Turmeric is a spice grounded from the Curcuma Longa root. Its active ingredient, curcumin, is responsible for the bright yellow hues, as well as its antioxidant, complexion brightening, and antibacterial properties.
- Jasminum Sambac Floral Extract: Jasmine is more than a beautiful fragrance! It is full of antioxidants, helps even skin tone by reducing dark spots, and has natural moisturizing and disinfectant properties. Jasmine also has skin-soothing properties, making it a great ingredient for sensitive skin.
The Clarity
Now that we have fully dissected this masterpiece, I’ll share my experience with this gem having used this over the past few years. Firstly, it has a cool gel texture that glides easily on application. It feels nice on the skin while it’s working, and you will notice a tingling sensation almost immediately. I personally love the feeling, but it may be too strong if you have super-sensitive skin. My only complaint is that it does tend to spill down the face after a few minutes, probably from the warmer body temperature. I don’t recommend this going anywhere in, near, or around the mouth or nose, I’m just saying.
Next, the scent is pure bliss. Some users who aren’t as familiar with herbal formulas may be turned off, as the scent can come off a bit strong. Again, I’m in love with it. I find it very calming, and it makes a great mask to use while doing some light meditation, win-win.
Finally, every time I apply this mask, my skin looks and feels luxurious. It brightens and tightens, softens, and hydrates in just 15 minutes. I really can’t say enough great things about the resurfacing clarity mask, it’s your one-stop-shop for glowing skin, and your at-home personal spa facial in a jar.
So the next time you find yourself contemplating exploring green beauty for your skincare needs, consider the Blue Tansy Invisible Pores Resurfacing Clarity Mask by Herbivore Botanicals and ask yourself, what can Blue do for you?
